Kidnapper gets life sentence

KANSAS CITY, Kan. —A 30-year-old man will spend life in a federal prison on kidnapping and firearms charges.

A jury had convicted Jason E. Frazier of Kansas City, Kan., in July of one count of kidnapping, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, and one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

At a hearing Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Kathryn H. Vratil sentenced Frazier to life on the kidnapping charge, 35 years on the drug charge and 15 years on the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, all to be served concurrently. On the charge of using a firearm to commit a crime of violence, Vratil sentenced Frazier to five years to be served consecutively.
