WICHITA — Sedgwick County has instituted a burn ban for the entire county, including the city of Wichita, the county said in a news release this afternoon.
The burn ban is for an indefinite period of time. The county will notify residents when the ban is lifted.
The ban means that no outdoor burning is allowed, including the burning of trash in a barrel, campfires, bonfires, open brush piles, and grass and field burning. The ban does not restrict barbecue grills or cooking within an appliance designed for such use.
Fines for violating the ban can cost up to $1,000.
