WICHITA — A 21-year-old woman needed four stitches in her forehead after a piece of flat iron came flying through her driver's side window and struck her as she was driving past the old Coleman Company headquarters downtown late Tuesday night, police said.
Authorities were notified at about 10:30 p.m. about the incident that occurred in the 600 block of East Second Street. Evidence indicated someone had been throwing pieces of metal from the top floor of the old Coleman building, which is scheduled to be razed and the land converted into a parking lot.
The victim was driving west when the metal came flying through her open door window, she told police. She was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis by private vehicle for treatment.
