Public's help sought in identifying remains found a decade ago

NEVADA | Authorities are seeking help from the public in an effort to identify human remains found 10 years ago in southwest Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Tuesday that the remains were found in 2000 in Vernon County, near Nevada. A computer-generated image has been produced by the Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services lab in Louisiana.

Lab analysis has determined the remains are those of a white male who was probably age 26 to 36 at the time of his death. Authorities say he likely died sometime between 1985 and 1997.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Highway Patrol or Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman.
