WICHITA — Area police and government agencies will collect old medications for disposal, but not before Sept. 25.
Federal drug enforcement agencies are inviting the public to turn in expired or leftover prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for disposal. The national collection day is Sept. 25.
The public is invited to drop off medications at the Wichita Police Department's Patrol East, 350 S. Edgemoor, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 25. Sedgwick County will collect medications at its Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 801 Stillwell, and its Sheriff's Office at the Oaklawn Activity Center, 4904 S. Clifton.
Here are some other local locations that will accept medications that day: Bel Aire Police Department: Community Room, 7651 E. Central Park, North Entrance; Sedgwick County Zoo, 5500 W. Zoo Blvd.; Maize Police Department: City Hall, 10100 W. Grady.
