FORT RILEY — Fort Riley will host a welcome home ceremony for soldiers of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Custer Hill Parade Field. The public is invited.
Known as "The Dragon Brigade," the unit deployed to northern Iraq in August 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was part of the Responsible Drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq.
After a phased redeployment that began in late April, the entire brigade has returned home, with the final troops returning to Fort Riley in early August.

The brigade assisted and advised Iraqi Security Forces and military personnel. It also helped in the return of key operating bases and equipment to the Iraqi government as U.S. forces began withdrawing combat troops.
