WICHITA — Zoobilee, the Sedgwick County Zoo's annual fundraiser, raised more than $500,000, zoo officials said today.
Nearly 5,000 people attended Saturday night's event at the zoo. It featured food and drink from a variety of area restaurants, live music, and silent and live auctions.
Proceeds from the event support daily zoo operations and help keep daily admission prices affordable. More than 1,000 volunteers helped put on the event.
The Zoobilee theme this year was Isle of Iguana. A portion of this year's funds will go to support the International Iguana Foundation Initiatives.
