Wichita school board to discuss bond projects tonight

WICHITA — The Wichita school board will meet tonight and is expected to approve plans for a new $16 million K-8 school in the southeast part of the district.

In July, board members approved another new K-8 school at 53rd Street North and Woodlawn in Bel Aire.

Both projects, part of a $370 million bond issue voters approved in 2007, are scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.

Also on the board's agenda tonight are an addition and renovations to Irving Elementary School at 1642 N. Market.
