Bartle takes over filibuster on Ford incentives in the Missouri Senate

JEFFERSON CITY | The Purgabuster is now a Bartlebuster.

Purgason sat down at about 6 p.m., and was succeeded by Sen. Matt Bartle, a Lee’s Summit Republican. Bartle is now voicing his opposition to the Ford incentives, and indicated before beginning that he may talk for a good long time.

And that’s no idle threat from Bartle. He performed the longest filibuster in recent Missouri history a few years ago, when he spoke for 17 hours against a gubernatorial appointment.
