WICHITA — Police have released the name of the 21-year-old Wichita man killed in a motorcycle accident in west Wichita on Friday night.
Alex Wiebe was riding his motorcycle south on Tyler between Central and 13th Street around 10 p.m. when he collided with a pickup truck making a left-hand turn off a residential street.
Wiebe was traveling in the inside lane when the truck pulled directly in front of him. A witness at the scene said Wiebe was driving with the flow of traffic and did not appear to be speeding, Lt. Joe Schroeder said.
Wiebe, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered head injuries and blunt force trauma. He was transported to Via Christi on St. Francis where he died a short time later.

The 59-year-old driver of the truck was also taken to Via Christi on St. Francis with non-life-threatening injuries. Police conducted a blood test on the man, who is also a Wichita resident, and Schroeder said evidence at the scene indicated alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
It could be one to three weeks before blood test results are back, Schroeder said.
