Hutchinson inmate captured after brief escape

HUTCHINSON, Kan. - A 44-year-old Topeka man was captured after a brief escape from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Prison officials said Robert Nickelson was recaptured about 11:30 p.m. Sunday near Colby, about six hours after he escaped. Details of his arrest were not immediately available.

Nickelson escaped from a work release program at the Cal-Maine plant in Chase.

He was serving five years and six months for rape and two years for conspiracy to commit rape in the rape of an exotic dancer in Topeka in 2000.
