SPRINGFIELD, Mo. | A Springfield man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 98-year-old woman died from injuries she suffered in a robbery.
Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Darrell Moore reports that 27-year-old Joshua Rawlings was charged after Selwyn Wilson died on Thursday.
According to a probable cause statement, Rawlings went to Wilson's apartment on June 30, pushed her down and took her wallet. Wilson got back up, followed Rawlings and hit him with her cane. Police say Wilson shoved Rawlings to the floor again.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that Wilson was taken to the hospital about two hours later suffering from a brain injury. She died on Thursday.
