WICHITA — Rival gangs squared off in west Wichita on Tuesday night, police said, and by the time one group left the scene, two vehicles had been heavily vandalized.
The dispute erupted in the 4400 block of West Ninth Street at about 9 p.m., police said. A caller reported a disturbance with weapons there.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two vehicles with "all their windows smashed out," Lt. Steve Kenney said.
The owners of the two damaged vehicles were not very cooperative, he said. A red Durango was seen leaving the area as officers arrived.

The victims and the occupants of the Durango belong to rival gangs, Kenney said.
