Two men were arrested early today on suspicion of threatening four people with a gun in the Old Town area of Wichita, police said.
Although shots were initially reported in connection with the incident at 2 a.m. near the corner of Second and Washington, police think the people who called in the report may have mistaken the sound of Fourth of July fireworks for gunfire, said police Sgt. Donald Kimball.
Kimball said the two men who were arrested became involved in an argument with a man and three women shortly after the bars closed.
When the incident "escalated into a physical confrontation ... one of the men pulled a handgun out and pointed it at the other four," he said.

All those involved were in their mid-20s, he said.
The two groups gave conflicting accounts of what started the fight, he said.
