WICHITA — Due to lack of riders, Wichita Transit announced today that it will discontinue one south bus route and return to using another one, effective Friday.
The South Side Connector route, which has been in service for about 18 months, will be dropped. In its place, the original South Main schedule will resume service.
"We like to give a route plenty of time to develop a rider base," assistant transit director Steve Ainslie said. "However, the South Side Connector did not meet our expectations."
The South Main route will have three buses running every 30 minutes. It will serve all stops previously served by the South Side Connector.
Revised South Main route schedules are available in the Transit Center lobby, 214 S. Topeka, or at www.wichita.gov.
