Outdoor drinking now legal at WaterWalk

WICHITA — Add WaterWalk to the list of public properties where outdoor drinking is allowed at approved events.

The Wichita City Council today approved a measure that will allow alcohol consumption under certain conditions between Douglas Avenue and the Kellogg flyover, between Main Street and the Arkansas River.

"This allows us to have the types of activities that would allow alcohol... much like at the Wichita Art Museum and the Farm & Art Market," said John D'Angelo, Wichita arts and cultural services manager.

The ordinance allows outdoor drinking in public places only during events that pass through a fairly rigorous application process and get city approval.
