Gun discharges when robber hits victim with it

WICHITA — One person was taken to a local hospital after a robbery at a west Wichita apartment Monday night, police said.

Three people burst into an apartment in the 6800 block of West Par after 8 p.m., demanding money and valuables. Ten people were inside the apartment at the time.

One of the suspects struck a man in the head, causing his handgun to discharge. The bullet went through a window and into a neighboring apartment, but it did not hit anyone, police said.

The victims did not recognize the suspects, police said. The man who was hit in the head with the gun was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis for treatment.
