Men suspected of College Hill burglaries face nearly 20 charges apiece

WICHITA — Two men face nearly 40 charges combined in connection with a series of burglaries last month in the College Hill neighborhood.

Jamie K. Wilson, 28, has been charged in Sedgwick County District Court with nine counts of burglary, seven counts of felony theft, two counts of misdemeanor theft and one count of criminal use of a financial card.

Steven McMillan, 48, was charged with nine counts of burglary, seven counts of felony theft, two counts of theft after a prior conviction, and one count of criminal use of a financial card.

The two men are accused of burglarizing seven homes in College Hill between April 6 and 16, another between April 17 and 28, and the final one last Thursday, when an alert resident spotted someone leaving a neighbor's house while the owners were at work.

Using information given by the resident, officers found the suspect vehicle in front of a house on Laura Thursday afternoon and arrested one of the suspects. The second suspect was arrested later that afternoon at a south Wichita hotel.

The preliminary hearings for both defendants were set for May 18, and bond was set at $25,000 for each.
