The Missouri State Fair has announced three more concerts as part of this year’s lineup, including country music star Darius Rucker and “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee.
Rucker will perform Aug. 20, with The Band Perry slated as the opening act.
On Aug. 12, the fair’s opening day, Eli Young Band and Candy Coburn will take the Pepsi Grandstand stage.
McPhee, whose latest album is titled “Unbroken,” will be in concert Aug. 15; opening for her will be Bomshel, nominated in 2010 for the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Vocal Duo award.
Tickets for the three concerts go on sale through Ticketmaster at 9 a.m. May 20. Prices begin at $17 for the Rucker concert, while tickets for each of the other two are $10 for grandstand and $15 for the track.
Also going on sale May 20 will be tickets for the fair’s auto races, held at the Pepsi Grandstand. The Aug. 17 race will feature Lucas Oil Non-Winged Sprint Bandits, MAMS and ULMA; on Aug. 22 the half-mile track will host the MLRA/NRCA Late Model Challenge and the WoW 360 Sprints.
The Missouri State Fair runs Aug. 12-22 at the fairgrounds in Sedalia.
The announcement of the three concerts and auto races is phase two of a three-phase ticket release plan the fair introduced this year. Concerts already announced and on sale are Sheryl Crow with Colbie Caillat and the Country Gold Tour, along with tickets for all State Fair Arena events, the Pepsi Grandstand Truck and Tractor Pull and admission; tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.
Phase three will include the final three grandstand concerts and will go on sale June 7 through Ticketmaster.
Because tickets are on sale early through Ticketmaster, the Missouri State Fair box office will not be open for an early sales event. The fair’s box office will be open Monday through Friday starting June 28. Operating hours will be noon to 6 p.m. until Aug. 11, and then it will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily during the fair’s 11-day run.
