'Alien hunter' to give talk at KU

LAWRENCE | An astronomer is coming to the University of Kansas this month to talk about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

Seth Shostak is the senior astronomer at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute and author of "Confessions of an Alien Hunter."

The university says in a news release that he will discuss the possibility of contact and what it would mean to the world in "The Scientific Search for ET." The speech is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 9 at Alderson Auditorium in the Kansas Union.

The university release says Shostak believes there is reason to expect that evidence of sophisticated civilizations might be found in the coming decades.
