People gather for 'Take Back the Night' rally in Wichita

WICHITA — About 100 people paraded through Old Town tonight during the 24th "Take Back the Night" march to raise awareness about sexual violence.

Kathy Williams, director of the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, said the event is held each year to stress to everyone that sexual assault is unacceptable.

"Until all members of the community come together and say, 'This is not tolerable,' we will continue to have sexual violence," she said.

Last year, 356 victims of sexual violence sought hospital treatment in Wichita, Williams said.
