No leads in city's latest homicide, police say

WICHITA — Police say they have no leads and no suspects in the shooting death of Otis Bolden Jr. in southeast Wichita late Monday morning.

Bolden, 21, was shot several times in his bed at about 11:40 a.m. Monday, Lt. Ken Landwehr said.

He broke through the bedroom window in a desperate attempt to save his life, ran a few hundred feet around the corner of Building 17 at Fox Run Apartments, 1157 S. Webb, and collapsed in a grassy area.

Bolden was transported to Wesley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:26 p.m.

There were no signs of forced entry into apartment 1704, where Bolden lived, Landwehr said. Bolden was a documented gang member and had no known employment, he said.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning, Landwehr said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call 911, the homicide section at (316) 268-4181 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.

Tips can also be submitted online at www.wsccs.com, or by texting CRIMES (274637) and beginning the message with TIP217.

This is the sixth confirmed homicide in the city this year, Landwehr said, although police suspect a seventh death is likely a homicide, too.
