A 31-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son were killed tonight when a custom car she was driving veered off the road and overturned on Kellogg just east of the Butler County line.
The woman's 32-year-old husband, the boy's father, was following the car on a motorcycle and was injured when the cycle tipped over in the roadway.
Sedgwick County sheriff's Lt. Brad Hoch said the accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. as the vehicles were westbound on Kellogg. He said he did not know what caused the woman to lose control of the car. The family is from the Andover area, he said.
The man was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis with non-life-threatening injuries. The highway was closed for several hours while deputies investigated the accident.
