The Kansas Lottery Commission has voted to reopen casino bidding in Sumner County.
New applications to build and manage a state-owned casino in the county are due to the Lottery by 2 p.m. July 22.
This will be the third round of bidding in the county. It comes after Chisholm Creek Casino Resort withdrew from the application process April 9.
Chsholm Creek had planned a casino for the Mulvane turnpike exit but pulled out after growing skittish about potential competition from a tribal casino in Park City, pending legislation in the Kansas Legislature that might be amended to give Wichita Greyhound Park another chance to have slot machines, and confusion about zoning issues at its planned casino site.
