A storage building in the James A. Reed Wildlife Area was destroyed by fire early this morning, according to the Lee’s Summit Fire Department.
Fire officials say the fire was reported at about 1:45 this morning in the area of Ranson and Bailey roads. They found the fire had engulfed a newly constructed storage building at 13101 S. Ranson Road in unincorporated Jackson County.
The Lee’s Summit Fire Department and other agencies concentrated on a defensive approach to the fire, while protecting nearby structures. The fire was under control by 2:47 a.m. The building was a total loss, and the Missouri state fire marshal is investigating.
