Wichita's Mudbugs take second on 'Prairie Home Companion'

The Mudbugs Cajun & Zydeco Band, a group of seven performers from Wichita and Wellington, finished second among five finalists Saturday in Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion's" 2010 Battle of the Bands.

The five finalists, who were chosen from a pool of more than 700 submissions, performed live on the show in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Listeners were asked to cast votes for their favorite.

The Mudbugs, which include Eagle photographer Jaime Green, performed "We Make Great Gumbo" and "Je Suis Fier De Toi" on the show. A Brooklyn-based band, April Smith and the Great Picture Show, won the contest.

The radio show will be rebroadcast from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.
