Man dies of injuries in wrong-way K-96 crash

A man who drove the wrong way on two Wichita freeways late Friday before crashing into another car and suffering critical injuries has died, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The patrol identified him as James Richard Glover, 53, of Marietta, Ga.

Trooper Gary Warner said late Friday that emergency dispatchers received a report about 9:55 p.m. of a PT Cruiser driving northbound at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes of I-135, with no headlights.

Glover then headed east on the westbound K-96 exit ramp and collided with another car carrying three people. They were not seriously injured.

Warner said Glover was apparently suffering from a medical condition, was "combative" and stopped breathing at one point. Troopers administered CPR until an ambulance crew took Glover to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition.
