WICHITA — A would-be Good Samaritan ended up getting shot early this morning in south Wichita.
Police said the 32-year-old woman was going west on Harry at about 12:30 a.m. when she saw a man standing at the corner of Fern. She pulled over and offered to give him a ride.
The man climbed into her Mercury van, pulled out a handgun, shot her once in the right thigh and demanded money. She gave him her wallet, which contained identification and cash.
He got out of the van and walked east. She drove to a friend's house, who took her to Via Christi Hospital on Harry for treatment. She was transferred to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis and admitted for observation.
The suspect is an unknown black man about 19 years old, 5-feet-7 and 135 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a white polo shirt and a white ball cap.
