Developers kill Mulvane casino project

Chisholm Creek casino developers have withdrawn their plans to build and manage a casino in Summner County.

The action came a day after Gov. Mark Parkinson denied their request for another extension for the project.

Chisholm Creek had planned a $225 million casino resort near the Mulvane turnpike exit starting with a $150 million first phase.

It has asked for a refund of the $25 million privilege fee it paid to the state. The Kansas Lottery is processing the refund through the State Treasurer's Office.

Keith Kocher, the Lottery's director of gaming facilities, anticipates that the Lottery Commission will re-open bids for the south-central zone at the commission's regular monthly meeting on April 23.
