Sedgwick County authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how a 2-week-old baby died this weekend.
The child, identified as Brylie Pinkston-Armstrong, died Saturday morning at her home in southern Sedgwick County, Sheriff's Capt. Annette Haga said.
"We're just ruling stuff out," Haga said. "We don't have any clear indications of anything suspicious."
Given the number of recent deaths of young children in the metropolitan area, however, Haga said authorities are being extra careful.
Deputies were called at 11:01 a.m. Saturday to 4220 S. Cumberland, which is between the Kansas Turnpike and McConnell Air Force Base just southeast of Wichita. Emergency Services personnel were unable to revive the baby.
An autopsy was performed Sunday, Haga said. Officials are now waiting for toxicology results, she said.
