Witnesses said the motorcycle was driving recklessly as it traveled south on Mosley just after 7 p.m., police reported.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle after it hit a set of railroad tracks in the 400 block of South Mosley and the vehicle crashed. Both the 25-year-old driver and his 24-year-old passenger were thrown from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries, police said.

Neither person was wearing a helmet, police said.

Both victims were taken to Via Christi St. Francis. The woman is in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said, and the man is in serious condition.

Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash, police said. Blood samples have been drawn for testing, according to police documents.
