An 18-year-old man was arrested early this morning in Lawrence following a shooting at the intersection of 23rd and Iowa streets. There were no injuries reported.
Police say several shots were fired at an occupied vehicle at about 2:20 a.m. At least one bullet struck the vehicle, which was found by police with three people inside at the 2200 block of West 26th Street.
Officers then chased a pedestrian who fit the description of a person who was observed leaving the area of the shooting. He was caught behind a business at the 1800 block of West 23rd Street, and handgun was found nearby.
The man, identified only as being from Kansas City, Kan., was arrested and charged with criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal use of a weapon, defacing identification marks on a firearm and possession of marijuana.
