Red Cross offering disaster response class

WICHITA — The Red Cross is launching a new disaster response class to train those willing to respond to local and national disasters.

The class starts Tuesday at the Midway-Kansas Chapter, 1900 E. Douglas. The sessions will cover a wide range of disaster-related topics, spokesman James Williams said, ranging from how to set up a shelter to helping someone through the emotional toll disasters can leave behind.

All classes are free. Potential volunteers should be at least 18 years old, and have a valid driver's license and e-mail address. A Red Cross background check is required.

To sign up for classes, visit or call 316-219-4000.
