Man suspected of killing wife near Whitewater dies

A 49-year-old man suspected of killing his wife and then attempting suicide earlier this month has died, Butler County authorities said.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said Manrico Delcord died Wednesday night from self-induced carbon monoxide poisoning. Delcord had been on life support at Wesley Medical Center since authorities found him on Feb. 13 at his house near Whitewater.

His wife, 48-year-old Mary Beth Debicki, was found shot to death in their home. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated no one else was involved in the incident.

Investigators have not determined the motive, Murphy said.

"We may never know" the reason for the shooting and suicide, he said.

Delcord had been a Whitewater firefighter for the past six years.
