JEFFERSON CITY | A cook in a Missouri prison has been sentenced to jail time for assisting a robber.
Brenda E. Oakley, of Jefferson City, pleaded guilty to a charge of hindering prosecution when she hid a robbery suspect in her apartment several blocks from the state Capitol. Oakley had been a cook at the Algoa Correctional Center.
The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported that Oakley was sentenced this past week to 60 days of shock jail time. She also was given a three-year suspended sentence and five years of supervised probation.
Police say that Oakley helped hide Patrick Harris, who was shot when he attempted to rob several men. Harris was not found until the next day. He has pleaded not guilty to several charges.
