Girl hurt in Monday night crash released from hospital

The 3-year-old girl injured in a crash that seriously hurt her mother and killed her 2-year-old sister earlier this week has been released from a Wichita hospital.

The crash occurred at 11:52 p.m. Monday on 63rd Street South when the woman's car slid into a concrete railing leading up to a bridge at Meridian, authorities have said.

The 33-year-old driver, who lives in Newton, is in serious condition at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus. Her 2-year-old daughter died Tuesday afternoon from injuries suffered in the wreck.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Capt. George Mason said the investigation into the crash continues.
