Jury trial set for July in fatal K-State fan bus accident

LAWRENCE | A Douglas County judge has scheduled a July trial in a 2006 fatal accident involving the Kansas State Cat Tracker fan bus.

The accident occurred when the modified bus was driving through Lawrence to a football game between Kansas State and the University of Kansas.

John Green, of Shawnee, and Chris Orr, of Salina, were standing on upper deck of the bus when their heads hit an overpass. Green was killed and Orr was severely injured.

Green's wife and Orr have sued the owners and the driver of the Cat Tracker.

District Judge Robert Fairchild on Tuesday scheduled a trial for the first two full weeks in July.

The Cat Tracker is privately owned and not affiliated with Kansas State.
