The disabled woman who was badly burned in a fire at her apartment Monday night has died, officials said.
Mary Weaver, 55, died at about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the burn unit of Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita Fire Capt. Stuart Bevis said.
She was a resident of the Timbers apartment complex, and was burned as a result of careless smoking.
Because of Weaver's disability, Bevis said, she was not able to get away from the fire before the apartment's sprinklers put it out. She suffered burns over about 30 percent of her body, he said.
