Woman arrested in connection with KCK shooting death

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a shooting death of another woman early Friday morning in Wyandotte County.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman has charged Tanisha Story with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Lakeasha Ross, also 19. Ross' death is the first Kansas City, Kan., homicide of the year.

Kansas City, Kan., police were called about 7:30 a.m. to a basement apartment at 2027 South Mill St. after neighbors reported hearing gunshots there. Police found Ross dead from gunshot wounds.

Story was arrested in Kansas City and is being held in the Kansas City jail on a $100,000 bond. The shooting is still under investigation.
