A 40-year-old man from the metropolitan area _ but not from Sedgwick County _ has died from infection with the H1N1 virus, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced today.
That brings the total number of confirmed deaths from H1N1 statewide to 25.
The man's infection was confirmed Oct. 27, and his death was reported Dec. 14. The man had underlying health conditions that placed him at greater risk for severe complications of influenza.
The metropolitan area is Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey and Sumner counties, KDHE said. A Sedgwick County Health Department spokeswoman said the man was not from Sedgwick County.
