Former University of Missouri running back Tony Temple has been charged with assaulting a former girlfriend and breaking her $4,000 television set.
Temple, 24, who also starred at Rockhurst High School, was charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with domestic assault and property damage. Bond was set at $40,000.
The 25-year-old alleged victim told Grandview police that Temple barged into her home Tuesday morning and demanded to know where she had been the night before. The woman told officers that Temple had moved out the week before and that she no longer wanted to see him.
According to court documents, Temple allegedly grabbed her around her throat and by her hair, slammed her ankle in a door and dug his fingernails into her side during the altercation.

She also told officers that Temple hurled a basket of shoes at her 52-inch flat-screen television, breaking out the screen. He also allegedly kicked a hole in a door, punched holes in walls and broke glass items in the house.
Temple told officers that he had only gone to the residence to let the woman’s dog out. He said the woman had begun throwing items around the house and said she was going to “set him up” by calling police on him if he left, according to the court documents.
