Missouri’s Kim English and Michael Dixon swept the Big 12 weekly awards.
English was named Player of the Week, and Dixon the Rookie of the Week, and both were good in Sunday’s victory over Austin Peay.
But their efforts in last week’s triumph over Illinois, which ended a Tigers’ nine-game losing streak in the series, were the attention-grabbers.
English had 24 and Dixon, the freshman from Kansas City, 16 in the 81-68 victory over the Illini in St. Louis.Kansas remained No. 1 in both major polls, but lost a little market share to second-place Texas. Last week the Jayhawks received all 31 first-place votes in the USA Today coaches’ poll. This time, Kansas received 28 with the Longhorns collecting the other three.
Kansas State moved up three spots to 12th in the coaches poll and remained in that spot in the Associated Press ranking.
