Good Samaritan has change of heart, gets arrested

A Good Samaritan who helped a woman get her car out of the snow Friday apparently changed his mind about good will later.

Wichita police say a woman was leaving a video store about 5:45 p.m. Friday in the 8700 block of West 29th Street when her vehicle got stuck in the parking lot.

A man offered to help push her out and did, Sgt. Bill Stevens said today.

She headed home and noticed that the man was following her. He rammed her with his vehicle, Stevens said.

The man then returned to Family Video and threatened employees and customers, Stevens said.

He apparently was distraught about his mother, who he said was in a hospital in Kansas City, Stevens said.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of aggravated assault, making threats and destruction of property.
