A 29-year-old Wichita man arrested for driving more than 100 miles an hour last week on Kellogg and causing a crash has been charged in connection with the incident.
Brian Tastad has been charged in Sedgwick County District Court with aggravated battery and two counts of attempting to elude law enforcement, according to court records. He made his first appearance Wednesday.
Tastad was arrested after a police officer clocked him going more than more than 100 mph on East Kellogg near Oliver late on the morning of Dec. 18. The officer tried to pull him over, authorities have said, but could not catch up to the speeding F150.
The pickup sped past Rock Road, then veered in an attempt to avoid a second pickup stopped at the traffic light at Cypress. But the F150 hit the second pickup, sending it airborne and rolling.
Tastad was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and then booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. The driver of the second pickup was not seriously injured.
Tastad's preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 6.
