4-year-old killed in Topeka house fire

TOPEKA | A 4-year-boy who was pulled from a burning Topeka home on Wednesday night has died.

A fire department spokesman says firefighters arrived at the house around 7 p.m. and told everyone was out except the boy. He was found during a preliminary search and taken to a hospital, where doctors were unable to save him.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Investigators believe the blaze started in the front living room of the home, and no foul play is suspected.

Two other children were rescued from the home before firefighters arrived, and the mother also made it outside.

The fire was located in a public housing district maintained by the Topeka Public Housing Authority
