Old Town bouncer stabbed in altercation

Wichita police are investigating a disturbance early this morning at an Old Town nightclub in which two bouncers were stabbed and a third was beaten.

The injuries occurred about 12:35 a.m. outside Club Indigo at 126 N. Mosley, said police Sgt. Steve Yarberry.

Two Club Indigo bouncers became embroiled in a fight with about 10 men whom they had ejected from the club. A bouncer from the nearby Heroes sports bar saw the disturbance and tried to come to the other bouncers' aid, Yarberry said.

"This individual went across the street to help and received stab wounds to his chest and stomach," Yarberry said.

The 23-year-old Heroes bouncer was transported to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. No information on his condition was available.

One of the Club Indigo bouncers, age 24, was stabbed in the shoulder; the other, age 22, suffered minor injuries from being hit in the head and face, Yarberry said.

They both went to Wesley Medical Center in private vehicles, Yarberry said.

Some witnesses reported hearing shots fired as the assailants left, but no one was hit by a bullet and police did not find any evidence of gunplay at the scene, Yarberry said.
