KU fires receivers coach Beaty, last of Mangino's staff

There will be no ties to former KU coach Mark Mangino’s staff going forward under Turner Gill after wide receivers coach David Beaty was let go on Wednesday morning, a source told The Star.

As of Tuesday, when the rest of KU’s assistant coaches and strength staff were told to pack up their belongings, Beaty was still being considered by Gill. Beaty, a former high school head coach in Texas who led the Jayhawks’ improved recruiting efforts in the state the past two seasons, seemed to be the most likely holdover from Mangino’s staff.

Instead, there will be a clean break from Mangino’s program to Gill’s.
