The Royals announced their organizational award winners, to be presented at a banquet next month headlined by Zack Greinke and Billy Butler.
Greinke and Butler were previously named the team’s pitcher and player of the year, respectively, along with special achievement award winner Alberto Callaspo. All winners will be recognized at the Royals Awards Night, Jan. 14 at the Overland Park Convention Center.
The centerpiece of the event will be the Ewing Kauffman Mr. Baseball Award, which will be announced that night.
The other winners:
Louie Media, special assistant to the general manager, as the Art Stewart scout of the year.
Mark Davis, minor league pitching coach, as the Dick Howser Player Development person of the year.
Martie Cordaro, general manager of Class AAA Omaha, as the Matt Minker award for outstanding minor league affiliate employee.
Clint Robinson, Class A Wilmington first baseman, as the Mike Sweeney award for on- and off-field contributions.
Jarrod Dyson, Class AA Northwest Arkansas outfielder, as the Willie Wilson baserunner of the year.
Salvador Perez, Class A Burlington catcher, as the Frank White defensive player of the year.
Mike Montgomery, Class A Wilmington lefty, as the Paul Splittorff pitcher of the year.
David Lough, Class AA Northwest Arkansas outfielder, as the George Brett hitter of the year.
LeRoy Zimmerman, Overland Park resident, as the Dan Quisenberry special achievement award for outstanding member of the community.
