Public's help sought in search for 8-year-old Liberty boy

Liberty police asked for the public’s help in finding a boy who they think was taken by his father Sunday.

Officers were trying to locate Orin Brightwell, 8, who had spent the weekend with his father, Hector Cantu.

Cantu last was seen in Liberty about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, driving a black Ford F-150 with gray and silver stripes on the sides and bearing Tennessee license plate 716 CBS.

Police said they had no indication that Orin was in any danger. Cantu suggested that he intended to take Orin out of state, possibly to Texas or Tennessee, police said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Orin or Cantu should call the Liberty Police Department at 816-439-4701.
