Olathe North back with Kansas 6A title

TOPEKA | James Franklin rushed for 269 yards, including touchdown runs of 25, 5 and 68 yards, as Olathe North crushed Wichita Heights 37-3 in the Kansas 6A state championship game at Washburn University's Yager Stadium.

The Eagles' defense didn't allow a touchdown and recorded a safety when junior linebacker Kyle Swartz tackled Falcons junior quarterback John Moreland in the end zone early in the fourth quarter.

Heights, 8-5, which entered the game with a six-game win streak, managed only 107 total yards.

Olathe North, 13-0, won its eighth 6A title since 1996 and completed the program's sixth perfect season. The Eagles were also undefeated in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2002.
